where families know they are welcome like home

Caring for the heart of the peninsula since 2023

Growing Bright Futures

Maitland Family Centre has been part of the Yorke Peninsula community since reopening in May 2023. Housed in the lovingly restored former Maitland Kindy, it’s a place where the past meets a bright new chapter, right in the heart of town.

We care for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years, offering Long Day Care in an environment designed to feel as warm and welcoming as home. Small enough to know every child by name, big enough to offer a rich, play-based program – our team is here to support your child’s curiosity, connection and confidence, every single day.

Favourite thing about Maitland Family Centre.
Our centre is such a warm and welcoming place, with a genuine family feel that makes everyone feel at home. Being part of this close-knit community has meant so much to me, and I’ve truly loved caring for our little people and helping them grow, learn, and feel safe and loved each day.

Why I got into Early Learning
I truly love spending time with children and being part of their growth and development. Watching their personalities shine and seeing them learn new things every day is so special and rewarding. I spent 6 wonderful years as a Family Day Care provider before moving into long day care, and caring for children has been one of the most fulfilling and meaningful journeys of my life.

Something Personal
When I’m not at work I love spending time with my grandchildren. Long walks on the beach, fishing and spending time in my garden. Family means everything to me.

Favourite thing about maitland family centre:
My favourite thing about working at Maitland Family Centre is the strong connections built with the children and families every day. Creating meaningful relationships and being part of each child’s growth makes the role so rewarding. I also love the family atmosphere amongst the staff, where everyone supports one another and works together to create a warm, welcoming environment for both the children and their families.

Why I got into early learning:
I got into early learning because I grew up supporting my mum’s family day care in Ardrossan, where I discovered a passion for caring for children and assisting with their growth and development. Being surrounded by children from a young age helped me realise how rewarding it is to support their learning and milestones. Even after trialling other career avenues, I always found myself drawn back to early learning, as it’s where I feel most fulfilled and connected.

Something personal:
Something personal about me is that I live in Ardrossan in the home I bought with my partner at 21, alongside our animals – two dogs, Harper and Diesel, and our cat, Sundae. Outside of work, I love spending as much time as possible with my niece and nephew, as well as my close friends and family. I’m also known for procrastinating cleaning by spontaneously rearranging rooms and moving furniture around instead.

Favourite thing about Maitland Family Centre:
I love all the welcoming hellos and hugs I get when I walk into the gate. I love that we walk right into the children playing in the yard. Our centre is so open and very welcoming.

Why I got into Early Learning:
I was a teacher for 26 years before I got this job. My mum tells me I’ve been a teacher since I could talk. I loved most of my time teaching, but I think my heart has always been with younger children. I had intended to be a kindergarten teacher, but when I was applying for university, I was talked into doing a new course called middle school because there will be lots of jobs for it. I don’t have any regrets because I absolutely love working at Maitland Family Centre. Supporting the children to grow and develop over the past few years has been such a pleasure.

Something personal:
I am a mum of 2 adult girls. Everyone who knows me knows that I am their number 1 fan. I have 2 sisters and 2 brothers and my whole family means everything to me. One of my favourite things to do is go camping in Meningie with all of them.
